Age 40, Married with 2 children (12 and 7) . Born and raised in Michigan. Coach youth basketball and involved heavily in school and church activities in the community.
I was moved to try and contribute somehow to those that dedicate their lives and well being to protect our beliefs and freedom. When the idea of this "Operation" came about I was more then willing to get involved. I told Tony (Cav) that I would assist in any way that was needed.
Like everything else in my life, I jumped in with both feet! After spreading the word, I found many people were in the same position i was on this. Most people wanted to do something, but never knew how to help those over there. I presented the avenue to contribute to them and it took off. I find it easy now to get things to add to the care packages. All I have to do is ask and within days a box is packed full.
I think at first everyone helps out because they feel they should. After they read the letters or guest book entries here, They realize "our" efforts are greatly appreciated to both those over there and those stuck at home worrying about their safety. The personal contacts (letters and pictures and e-mails) from the actual receivers only strengthens our desire to help in any way we can to make even a moment or few minutes there more bearable.
That's what this is all about!
